Today, the spiritual principle of topic is courage. Prior to recovery, I thought that courage, bravery, etc., were things that described people that had no fear. I could not have been more wrong. Without fear, courage does not exist. Courage, in it’s simplest form, is action contradictory to fear. The ability to face things that terrify or frighten me and act to change the parts that I can. During meditation, I usually ask God to give me courage to get through whatever I am destined to face that day. I have found that when I try to do things on my own, fear wins; when I use the help around me from my higher power and peer support, courage is the victor. My mantra today is going to fall in line with the second part of the serenity prayer, “the courage to change the things I can.” I hope everyone has a great day. I will post Day 9 of the 31-Day Spiritual Guide this evening as I should have posted this one yesterday evening. God bless!
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.” – Mark Twain
